After a grueling weekend, the doctor wanted to see me right away, so first thing this morning I went to town. She said that it could just be that I did something to aggravate the discs in my lower back, and the muscles all swelled up and is causing the pinching on my nerve. That is the BEST case scenario - and if so, it will calm down in a few days to a few weeks on its own with rest and medications.

Worst case, and she said honestly - this is more what she thinks has happened is that I did something, however small and simple, that has caused one of those 3 discs that are already wearing thing and bulging to finally rupture or collapse. Because of the extreme pain I'm having and the numbness and pain in my leg, she thinks this is more likely. However, she can't do an MRI yet because 1) I couldn't lay there for it because of the pain, and 2) it is so swollen that she needs really for the swelling to go down and maybe things will calm down on their own. So she wants to wait a few weeks before ordering an MRI, if its necessary.

In the meantime, she gave me a super duper shot today of an anti-inflammatory and then also a prescription of an anti-inflammatory that is so heavy you can only take it for a week or risk ulcers. But for a week it should be ok. She also gave me a heavy heavy muscle relaxer for the extreme spasms I'm having that take my breath away. And she tripled my pain medication and said if I am not receiving any relief by noon tomorrow on the pain, she wants to put me on morphine. Yes, my pain is that severe. I cannot lay in ANY position, sitting is the worst and she doesn't want me to sit up, and standing - I can stand for about 5 minutes and then my back seizes up and I fall down.

Mentally, I'm so upset and depressed about all of this. My boss is being super terrific. We're just taking it a couple days at a time and hoping that everything will calm down and I'll be able to work again soon and not have to have surgery. But I love my job and I don't want to jeopardize it by being in this condition. The last time I had back surgery, I was FIRED because of it - because I couldn't perform my job and they needed someone right then. I guess I have a deep-rooted fear from that. And I absolutely HATE making the rest of the team cover for me! I can't even afford the medication I have to take...its taken all my bill money so now I can't even pay the power, phone, or cable bill. I'm so stressed and worried and trying to rest but in so much pain.

Ok sorry for whining, I know how much people on DA hate to hear other people's problems. I just wanted to give an update for anyone who wanted to know.

Art Update

My sissy and I are working on a couple of deviations together for the 100 Theme Challenge. The first one we're going to tackle is "Sorrow" because I wanted to enter the Sorrow contest.
